Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-08-10

This policy explains what Big Brain Classes (the "Service"), operated by Big Brain Theatre ("we," "us"), collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. It applies to everyone who uses the Service, including subscribers and contributors.

1. Information we collect

Account information. Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password, plus your account role and status. Contributors also provide public profile material: display name, bio, about section, links, avatar, banner, blog posts, and an optional profile video.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers and full payment details go directly to Stripe and never reach or get stored on our servers. We keep your Stripe customer reference, your subscription plan and status, and records of completed payments (invoice reference, amount, and date) for accounting.

Viewing activity. When you watch a video we record which video was played, when, and, if you are signed in, your account. Your IP address and browser session are stored only as one way cryptographic hashes used to count each viewing session once; we do not store your raw IP address in viewing records. Watch duration may also be recorded.

Engagement. Likes, dislikes, favorites, playlists, follows, channel subscriptions, and comments you post. Comments are visible to other users alongside your account name.

Reports and correspondence. If you submit a copyright or abuse report we keep the report and the email address you provide. We also keep transactional email records (verification, invitations, notices).

Technical data. Essential cookies for login sessions and security. Our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) processes requests to deliver pages and video and to protect the Service, and may collect anonymized performance metrics. We do not run advertising cookies or trackers.

2. How we use information

We use this information to operate the Service: authenticate you, deliver and gate video playback by subscription, process billing, count views, moderate content and comments, secure the platform, and send transactional email. Viewing activity is also the basis of the contributor revenue share: monthly view totals determine how the contributor pool is divided, and contributors see their own monthly views, platform share, and ranking position.

3. How we share information

Service providers. We use Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (content delivery, video streaming, storage, and security), Resend (transactional email), and cloud hosting providers. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.

Big Brain Theatre. The Service is operated for Big Brain Theatre, and we share platform telemetry with Big Brain Theatre: viewing activity, engagement metrics, subscription and revenue reporting, and contributor performance analytics.

Business partners. We may share aggregated or de-identified analytics (for example, total views, audience trends, and content performance) with business partners. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your raw viewing history with partners in a form that identifies you.

Contributors. Contributors see aggregate statistics about their own content (views, rankings, earnings). They do not receive your identity or your individual viewing history.

Legal. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the Service.

4. Retention

Account data is kept while your account exists. Viewing and engagement records are retained to operate the revenue share and platform analytics. Financial records, including monthly revenue statements, are retained permanently for accounting; a contributor's statement lines (name, monthly views, and amounts) persist even if the account is later deleted.

5. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from account settings. Deletion removes your profile and content, deletes uploaded media from our video and storage infrastructure, and cancels any active subscription. Records we must keep for accounting, security, or legal reasons are retained as described above.

6. Your choices and rights

You can view and update your account details in settings, manage your subscription through the billing portal, and delete your account yourself. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as requesting a copy of your data or its correction or deletion. Contact us at [email protected] to exercise them.

7. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed, payment details are handled by Stripe, video playback uses signed, expiring access tokens, and IP addresses in viewing records are stored only as one way hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for least data.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy; material changes will be announced on the Service or by email, and the date above will change. Questions: [email protected].
